SSEES awarded UCL Changemakers grant: Searching for Romanian Heritage in London Museums.
11 March 2025
Students studying Romanian language and culture awarded funding by UCL Changemakers on a unique project exploring Romanian heritage.

Congratulation to SSEES students Rares Muscar and Maria Popa, along with their teacher Ramona Gonczol, who have been awarded a UCL Changemakers grant for their project: Searching for Romanian Heritage in London Museums. Rares and Maria study Romanian at UCL SSEES.
The project links between Romanian language/culture, UCL as an institution and London more widely.
The project aims to:
- take learning out of the class and apply it in a real context
- to empower students to run a project, disseminate and present it
- to prepare students with new skills that can be used when on their year abroad or in the future
- to contribute students' understanding of their Romanian heritage in a global cultural context such as the international museums of London (Horniman, V and A, Migration, British Museum) as well as to encourage them to highlight the importance of their heritage through culture.
UCL ChangeMakers supports students and staff who want to work together to enhance the learning experience of students at UCL. Find out more on their website.
