Spotlight on Ms Angela Nnamchi, Programme Administrator for Politics & Sociology

Angela Nnamchi

What brought you to work at SSEES?

Previously I was working for a small private college and after a couple of years, I had the desire to challenge myself more in a large university setting. UCL was on my top list and I’m glad got into the SSEES department.

Three words to describe the SSEES community (staff/students/alumni)?

Inclusive, Fun, Helpful

If you weren’t working in academia, what would be your dream job?

Probably travelling around the world exploring new cultures

Outside of work, how do you unwind?

Going out with friends or watching movies

Have you recently made any lifestyle changes help out the planet and environment?

I used to buy a lot of bottled water every single day which obviously is not good for the planet. I’ve switched to a portable water bottle and not only I’m helping the environment but I’ve saved up a lot of money

If you could recommend only one book, what would it be?

The Power of your mind by Chris Oyakhilome

What is your biggest professional achievement to date?

In my previous job, being part of a nation-wide panel where I was contributing in the decision-making of how we could help financially students who were severely hit by the pandemic.
