SSEES PhD student receives Best Doctoral Paper Award at Association for Study of Nationalities

Congratulations to SSEES PhD candidate Andrea Peinhopf who has been awarded Best Doctoral Paper for the Caucasus/Russia section by the Association of Study of Nationalities (ASN) in their 2018 Awards.   Annually held in the spring in New York City, the ASN World Convention brings together over 800 scholars from around the world to examine and push forward research on issues of Nationalism, Ethnicity, Violence, Conflict, Economic Development and many other topics.

Andrea is supervised by Prof Jan Kubik and Dr Richard Mole and works on a thesis titled: 'States of belonging: nation-building and social reconstruction in post-Soviet and post-war Abkhazia'
