Bright Club

1 January 2017

From 27 October 2014

On 14 October Roxana Bratu joined other UCL academics at the thinking person’s comedy night –Bright Club - where UCL researchers become stand-up comedians.

Run by the UCL Public Engagement Unit, Bright Club gives an opportunity for staff to get experience of sharing what they do with a friendly, informal audience. Described by Roxana as a “wonderfully scary” experience, the 60-strong audience heard her talk about how she got into studying corruption – a subject thought by some to be “exotic”.

Roxana’s prepared jokes were interrupted by those wanting to know more about her research and she felt that communication with an audience outside her usual sphere in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere was refreshing and “something worth doing”.
