Anti-Soviet Resistance in the Baltic States

Speakers from Lithuania, Latvia, Russia, Scotland and England spoke at a round table on resistance in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania after their annexation by the USSR in 1940. Violeta Davoliūtė presented her book (ed. with Tomas Balkelis) Maps of Memory: Trauma, Identity and Exile in Deportation Memoirs from the Baltic States, and the Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania HE Asta Skaisgirytė Liauškienė opened the exhibition ‘Under Alien Skies’.

The event was sponsored by the embassies of the republics of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, the Baltic Council in Great Britain and UCL SSEES, forming part of the activity of the Lithuanian Presidency of the Council of the European Union 2013.
