Working Title of Thesis: Equity Market Liberalisation in Emerging Markets: the case of Turkey

Research: My research aims to explore the degree of liberalisation in Turkey, particularly after the halt of Turkey’s accession to European Union. Increased involvement of Turkey in Middle East conflicts has led to changing co-movement between Turkish Stock Market and other Emerging Markets. One of the aspects of the research will be to employ econometric tests to check whether the Turkish stock market is still efficient. Another aspect will be to specify Turkey’s position in international portfolio diversification from investors’ perspective.
