My name is Alison Davies and I will be your Student Adviser this year in the School of Slavonic and East European Studies (SSEES).
As your Student Adviser, I’m here to help guide you through your first academic year and will be available to offer my support.
What does a Student Adviser do?
So, you know who I am, but what exactly do I do, and most importantly, how can I help you?
Every first-year student is allocated a Student Adviser to support them throughout the year. We are here as a first point of contact within your department and we can help to support you in many ways:
First and foremost, I am here to listen to you and understand your university experience. Every student has a different experience and so, whether everything is going fantastic, or if things aren’t going as well as you hoped, I am here to support you so that you can focus on having the university experience you want.
The transition to university can be a rollercoaster filled with highs and lows. I am here to support and encourage you through both the high and low periods throughout the year.
I am also here to help guide you through your first year. UCL is a really big university placed in the centre of an even bigger city. Whether you were born in London, or are coming from abroad, it can sometimes be difficult to find your way around! I’m here to help you find your way.
We are also committed to ensuring that you make the most of your first year and get out of it what you want. UCL have a lot of opportunities, and part of my job will be to help you connect with others to take advantage of them.
I will be in touch nearer to the time of enrolment, but if you have any urgent queries before you start, you can contact me at ssees-student@ucl.ac.uk
