Macedonian Level 1 Beginners

Course description: Level 1 is designed for people with no prior knowledge of the Macedonian language. It will provide them with a basic knowledge of the language and culture of North Macedonia, including a solid foundation in basic grammar. Grammar rules and explanations provided will enable learners to achieve accuracy in speech and understanding of the basic structure of the Macedonian language. 
The methodological approach is communicative, it focuses on the creation of real-life situations which will encourage the learner to actively engage with the language.
The aim of the course is to cover a basic knowledge of the everyday Macedonian language. Through this course learners will develop basic skills of speaking, reading, listening and writing needed for successful communication. 

The course runs over three ten-week terms and each session is two hours long. The course will cover the following:

Topics: the alphabet (Cyrillic) and pronunciation, greetings, numbers, occupations, countries and cities, my family, my house, clothes, colours, people characteristics, directions, daily activities

Functions: introducing oneself, ordering food in a restaurant, understanding and giving directions, understanding numbers (prices, telephone and house numbers) invitations and celebrations, housing (describing your house)

Grammar: nouns (gender, plural, definiteness), personal pronouns, adjectives (gender, number, definiteness, comparison and special vocative forms), numbers (quantity), simple adverbs, verbs (gender, number, aspect, mood) in Present, Future and Past Tense, conjunctions and conjunctive words.
