Join us for an evening with Slovene writer, poet and storyteller Anja Štefan. She will present her work and poems from the award-winning collection Drobtine iz mišje doline (Tunes from Mousedale Dunes, translated by Nada Grošelj), both in Slovene and in English translation, along with the playful illustrations by Alenka Sottler. The presentation will be followed by Q&A with the audience.
Anja Štefan (born 1969) studied Slovene and English language and literature at the University of Ljubljana and afterwards obtained her master’s degree in ethnology. She writes primarily for children and her poems and stories have received numerous awards. She is also a professional storyteller and the initiator of the Slovene storytelling festival Pravljice danes (Fairy Tales Today). She collects and records Slovene folk tales and in recent years has translated stories from other languages as well. Her texts are regularly published in the two major Slovene magazines for children, Ciciban and Cicido.
Slovene wine will be served, courtesy of the Embassy of Slovenia.
