The Ukraine war has changed the way many media operate today. Some are serving their masters in authority regardless of the scale of lies they have to broadcast. Others consider themselves fighting an information war, and anything that helps to defeat the invader is acceptable. The main victim of this fight is the actual truth. But does it matter? Is it true, that truth is relative to what journalists do?

About the Speaker

Famil Ismailov

Famil Ismailov
is the chief news editor of the BBC Russian Service. Born in 1964 in Azerbaijan. He graduated from the Faculty of Journalism at Lomonosov Moscow State University. He worked in Soviet newspapers and was at the origins of independent journalism in Azerbaijan. He worked at the US Embassy in Baku. In 1994 he moved to London and started working for the BBC.
