Please join us for a presentation of two recent books about the complex lives of Stalinist skyscrapers: Moscow Monumental: Soviet Skyscrapers and Urban Life in Stalin's Capital, by Katherine Zubovich (Princeton University Press, 2020); and The Palace Complex: A Stalinist Skyscraper, Capitalist Warsaw and a City Transfixed by Michał Murawski (Indiana University Press, 2019). The authors will be joined at the launch event by two distinguished respondents, Professors Caroline Humphrey and Yuri Slezkine.
Biographies
Katherine Zubovich is Assistant Professor in the Department of History at the University at Buffalo.
Michal Murawski is Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in Critical Area Studies at the School of Slavonic Studies, University College London.
Caroline Humphrey is Professor Emerita at the Department of Social Anthropology, University of Cambridge
Yuri Slezkine is Professor of the Graduate School, University of California, Berkeley and Senior Research Fellow, St. Edmund Hall, University of Oxford.
