In the presentation I will review the research that has been done about negotiating non-heterosexual sexualities in private sphere in Eastern Europe and will point out the possible trajectories for new research projects.
In my thesis I would like to focus on the daily negotiation of non-heterosexual sexualities in private sphere. By private I mean the various types of informal relationships (family, friends, colleagues, neighbours etc). I wish to explore by what means non-heterosexual people in Lithuania negotiate their sexualities in a long term. I would approach the coming-out as a process, (rather than focusing on a sole event and people’s initial reactions to it) and inquire how the coming-out process affects daily personal relationships.
I am a part-time MPhil Student at SSEES. I am interested in the research on private sphere in Eastern-Europe, as well as private aspects of gender and sexuality.
The presentation will be followed by a drinks reception.
