This paper explores the
representation of the scientist in Aleksandr Razumnyi’s Miklukho-Maklai
(1947) in the context of cultural and ideological debates on science in the
Soviet Union.
Considering Miklukho-Maklai alongside contemporaneous biographical films about scientists, it highlights key tropes and nonconformities and paves the way for further discussion about the relationship between science, the arts and ideology in the Soviet Union.
