Ana Ilievska Zavrsnik

Ana’s linguistic interests are linked to Applied linguistics, especially Sociolinguistics and cultural identity. She is also interested in grammar and, as a bilingual person, in how language shapes our perception of reality.

Ana is a lecturer, a translator, and a chartered language specialist for Macedonian and Slovene language. She is working as a cultural and language consultant for public and corporate sectors across the UK, and as a volunteer translator for international human rights organizations.

Her method of teaching is fun and lively, and she creates an environment where students can feel comfortable in making mistakes. She likes to break boundaries between teaching by curriculum and students’ individual interest.

Ana holds a university degree in South Slavic languages and Sociology of Culture from University of Arts, Ljubljana. Completed training courses and certificates relevant to her professional activities with institutions such as Chartered Institute of Linguists and Linguistic Association of Great Britain.

She likes museums, galleries, and coffee, preferably together, language conferences and events, listening to Scottish Gaelic, eating potica and drinking боза, preferably separate.
