Students moving to CRS during the 2026-27 academic year
22 June 2026
CRS spreadsheet available on the PGR Administrators forum Teams site
The Research Degrees team need to collect details of students moving to CRS next academic year. Because of the way fees are collected, students are charged fees up to the date they move to CRS so we will need to know if this date is at the start (1st October 2026) or later in the 2026-27 academic session. We would like PGR administrators to complete a spreadsheet (New CRS Request form) located in the PGR Administrators forum Teams site.
Students must have upgraded to PhD (if applicable) and have completed the minimum required registration period - three years full time or five years part time – before they are allowed to move to CRS status. UKRI and other funded students should not move to CRS for the period of any extension where fees are covered by the funder. They may need to move to CRS after this if they will not be ready to submit within the period of their funding.
We will need this information before students are asked to re-enrol in late August/early September.
Please note that the Covid-19 contingency arrangement allowing research students additional time on CRS will not apply to students who started on or after 28 September 2020.
In summary:
Students who started on or before 27 September 2020 will have 18 months full-time or three years part-time CRS.
Students who started on or after 28 September 2020 will have 12 months full-time or two years part-time CRS.
