Timeframes and eligibility criteria for the Higher Education Achievement Report (HEAR)
The Higher Education Achievement Report (HEAR) 2024/25
We are delighted to announce the commencement of the registration process for our 2024/25 new starter HEAR (Higher Education Achievement Report) eligible students with Gradintel.
Understanding HEAR
The Higher Education Achievement Report (HEAR) is a nationally recognized document that provides a detailed record of a student's academic and extracurricular achievements throughout their time at UCL.
Student could share HEAR with third parties when they apply for jobs, internships, placements and with other universities as a fully certified record of their academic results and non-degree related student achievements.
Eligibility for HEAR
Students are eligible for a HEAR if they are an undergraduate student who:
- first commenced their studies at UCL in the 2011-2012 or thereafter, with the exception of students registered on the following programmes: MBBS, Intercalated degrees, Affiliate programmes, Certificate in Medicines Management for Pharmacy Technicians programme;
- first commenced their studies in 2012-2013 or thereafter with the School of Pharmacy, with the exception of students registered on the Certificate in Medicines Management for Pharmacy Technicians programme;
- first commenced their studies in 2015-2016 of thereafter with the Institute of Education.
Register with Gradintel
Gradintel is the platform where students can access and manage their HEAR. By registering with Gradintel, students can easily showcase their achievements to potential employers or further education institutions.
Eligible students will be automatically registered with Gradintelligence, and they will receive an email invitation to activate their accounts. This email will be sent from Gradintelligence to their UCL email address by June 16.
Set-up new non-degree related achievements
If your department runs non-degree related achievements or activities that should be included on student HEARs, please refer to the guiding principles provided. You can then email hear@ucl.ac.uk with the title and a brief explanation of the achievement, and Student Records will set it up on Portico for linking.
Linking Students to Achievements on Portico
Only link students to achievements once you have verified their participation. This means they must have completed or been awarded the achievement, activity, or prize.
In the achievement type drop-down box, you will only find non-degree related achievements for which your department verifies student participation. Choose the appropriate achievement carefully.
There's no need to link students to activities organized by Global Citizenship or UCLU. They will handle this process independently.
For comprehensive guidance on how to link students to achievements on Portico, please visit Non-degree related achievements.
