DBS Digital ID verification available for current students

UCL current students requiring a DBS check as part of their studies can now use an app to complete the ID check.

Instead of attending an in person check on UCL campus, students with a DBS application started from 13 May 2025 can now scan their documents using an app on their mobile phone. This will make it quicker and easier for students to complete their DBS application. Some students may only need a passport to complete the check, and digital documents can be accepted.

For any student who cannot use the app, Student Support and Wellbeing Services will still offer the in-person document checking service.

Please note, applicants who complete their DBS with admissions will continue to visit the Post Office to complete their ID check.
