Work launched to improve the SORA process on Portico

The Current Student team is reviewing the SORA process: we understand that many steps in the current process are time-consuming and manual. We are seeking to make system enhancements where possible to improve this.

Last term, we consulted staff from faculties, departments and the SSWS team to understand the current process for capturing SORAs and the key pain points in this process. The feedback is that the end-to-end process is painful for the majority of staff involved with particular frustrations around notifying Module Leads of SORAs and sharing the necessary files with them, updating Moodle Submission points and retrieving SORAs per module via Portico SDS search.

Our next step is to identify and assess options to address these pain points and we will share these in future newsletters.

Over the coming term, we will set up a SORA Champions group with representation from each faculty to consult on improvement options and throughout development. These champions will also help us to share progress with faculty and department colleagues.

Our Portico improvement work will feed into the Beyond the SORA Development programme, an initiative led by Denise Long and Zak Liddell to improve the overall SORA experience for all. This programme will be reviewing and revising SORA policy, process and roles.
