Examination Timetable Data Task
3 November 2020
A new task for checking the data that will feed into the production of the main examination timetable for 2021 will open on Friday 4 December 2020. Please note that this task has changed significantly since last year, so it will be essential that ELOs either read our new procedure notes or attend a training session (details below).
Exam Arrangements for 2020/21
All centrally managed examinations for the main exam period in 2021 will be delivered on-line. The precise arrangements for this are yet to be determined by Education Committee. For this reason we have delayed the Exam Data Task to 4-16 December, to enable us to ensure that any instructions/training takes these new arrangements into account.
The purpose of checking the data that feeds into the Main 2021 examination timetable is to ensure that the data we hold is correct, to identify any examinations that have to be timetabled together, and to submit scheduling requests.
Please note that Module and assessment data for the current academic year CAN NOT be changed.
Training
To support departments with this process we will be delivering some training sessions via Teams, as follows: -
- Friday 4th December 2-4pm
- Monday 7th December 2-4pm
- Wednesday 9th December 2-4pm
- Friday 11th December 2-4pm
Please click on one of the links above in order to book your place.
The deadline for the completion of this task is 16 December 2020
Further Support
Procedure notes along with a video of the training session will be made available on the TA Talk Team, within the “Centrally Managed Exams” channel for those of you who cannot make any of the training sessions. If you have any questions then please raise them within that channel, using the @ELO tag to ensure that the Exams Team are alerted.
We strongly recommend that Exams Liaison Officers join TA Talk if they have not done so already. We will be using the Centrally Managed Exams channel on this team as a repository for useful reference materials for ELOs, to field general Q&A, and as an additional communication channel. If you are reluctant to join yet another Team due to being bombarded with notifications; then please join but switch off your notifications from this Team and then add yourself to the “ELO” tag. This will ensure that you only receive notifications for Exams related items within the team.
Instructions on how to join TA Talk can be found at:

Examination Dates
26 April – 28 May 2021. Due to the deadline for the entering of grades on Portico being the same for UG and PG programmes, the PG/UG examination period distinction is no longer applicable.
Module Selection Approvals Deadline Term 1 and 2 Modules
As a reminder, the deadline for the departmental module approvals is 18 December after which we will take a download of data for the production of the examination timetable.
