Launch of new module credit checking report

Checking module credits using new report
The progression and award rules have been written to comply with UCL’s credit and qualification framework and therefore check that students have taken the correct number of credits on the programme overall (e.g. 180 for a standard 1 year MSc) and the correct number of credits at particular levels (e.g. no more than 150 credits at level 4 on an undergraduate programme.) In order to avoid problems at the time of the board, the ‘Summary by Student’ report in the Module Registration container has been enhanced to enable you to check that students’ module registrations are in line with regulations. This report will be available via Portico next week.
You can use the report at any time of year, but the earlier problems are identified the easier they will be to resolve.
If you find a problem with approved module selections before the end of term 1 it may be possible to resolve the issue with an amendment to a term 2 module. Otherwise, seek advice from your Faculty. It would be good practice to run the report after the deadline for amendments to term 2 modules.
Further details on how to use the reports can be found on the wiki.
Amending students’ modules after the October deadline
As in previous years, you will be able to make amendments to students’ term 2 and 3 modules (where appropriate) up to 13 December 2019. The Student Module Selections Approval task will remain open during the autumn term to enable teaching and parent departments to approve module amendments made during this period. You will be able to identify modules pending approval directly via the task, or alternatively you can run the Detailed by Student Selection report and apply the ‘Pending’ filter in the Approval Status field. Please check regularly to see if there are any module changes awaiting your approval.
A package of online training materials is available to assist you with the improved approval and amendment processes.
