Prevent online training
13 June 2019
As you may be aware, staff are required to be trained on UCL’s procedures and policies surrounding the Prevent duty. We would like to encourage all staff in Student and Registry Services to complete the e-learning module, which has been developed to guide colleagues through new policies and procedures relating to the Prevent Duty.
Staff who have not yet undertaken any Prevent training should complete the training at their earliest convenience. Please visit the UCL Prevent Duty Training page to access and complete the course, where detailed instructions and FAQs can also be found.
Why is UCL delivering training on Prevent?
Government guidance requires that universities have in place policies for events with external speakers, welfare and pastoral care, IT usage and deliver training to support staff. The Office for Students (OfS) monitors compliance around delivering the Prevent Duty.
What is UCL’s approach to Prevent?
UCL’s approach to Prevent focuses on the welfare of our students and staff. One of our present tasks is to train staff on processes related to Prevent, such as safeguarding vulnerable individuals and procedures for events with external speakers.
If you have any queries about the Prevent Duty and UCL’s approach or training opportunities, please send an email to srs-compliance@ucl.ac.uk. More information can be found on the webpages Prevent at UCL.
