Module Registration is opening soon
1 July 2019
Important information about changes for 2019/20
Further improvements are being made to the Module Registration process for the 2019/20 academic year in response to feedback from staff and students.
Earlier selections for new students
For the first time new students will be able to select modules on completion of pre-enrolment. This change will enable students’ module selections to be approved before term begins.
Students can select modules as follows:
- from early August 2019 – new postgraduate and affiliate students, after pre-enrolment
- from mid-August 2019 – continuing students, after re-enrolment
- from end of August 2019 – new undergraduate students, after pre-enrolment
Departments can also begin approving module selections from early August.
Module registration will close for all students on 11 October 2019.
Further enhancements to Module Registration for staff
New functionality has been developed to improve the module approval and amendment processes for staff. The benefits of the new functionality are highlighted below.
New Student Module Selection Approvals processes:
- to enable parent and teaching department approvals to be undertaken in one place
- to ensure optional and elective selections are not fully approved until they receive both parent and teaching department approvals
- to ensure parent/teaching department approvals do not override each other
- to permit bulk approvals where appropriate
- to permit dual approvals (ie simultaneous parent and teaching department approvals) where the parent and teaching department are the same for a student module selection
- to enable easier access to students’ past results via the approvals container to inform approval decisions
- to enable a reason for rejecting a module selection to be included in the email notification to students
New Departmental Student Module Amend processes:
- to ensure that the relevant teaching and parent department approvals are sought when a module is:
- added to a student’s record
- amended to a different teaching term/delivery
- to ensure the relevant parent/teaching departments are informed when a module is deleted from a student’s record
- to permit modules to be added to a student’s record when they have not completed online module registration
New Module Registration Reports:
- to support staff with the management of the module approval process
