Jan-Feb 2020: Training for Curriculum Data Maintenance

10 December 2019

Learn more about the new Portico process for maintaining module and programme data

The process of  Curriculum Data Maintenance (formerly the Portico part of Academic Review) will be opened in January to enable departments to confirm their module and diet information. It has been renamed to better reflect the more flexible, on-going nature of the process.

The revised process will

  • provide a more holistic view of programme and module information
  • better support the departmental administration of this process
  • reduce the required workload in many cases
  • offer different cut-off dates for different data fields, enabling staff to spread the workload over a far longer time period
  • provide better reports to analyse module information

To allow departmental staff to begin this task in the new year, the Student Lifecycle Team will be updating Portico with as much new and amended programme and module information as possible in December.

In January, departmental staff will be invited to begin the Curriculum Data Maintenance process, focussing on module data in the first instance (programme diet maintenance will follow in February with specific workshops to address wider issues with the diets). In order to support this change to process  the Student Lifecycle team will be delivering training sessions by Faculty in January, to accompany this there will be a combination of written and video resources to support with this task. Targeted sessions for diets will be organised from February at a  departmental level to ensure the diets are analysed and improved for particular academic contexts.

Training documentation and resources will be circulated after the Christmas break, and a programme of training will be rolled out offering staff a combination of face-to-face, written and video resources to support with this task.
