Module Code and Credit Changes – Functional Testing in June 2018
1 January 2018
With effect from 1 August 2018 UCL will be implementing new module codes as part of a programme of improvements to the Portico student records system.
In addition, undergraduate programmes will be moving from course units to FHEQ credits in order to create a consistent credit framework across the institution.
The Academic Model Project is currently undertaking development work associated with the implementation of these changes. We are contacting service owners at this time to seek their assistance with testing updated functionality to ensure that normal business processes continue to operate when these changes come into effect. The areas where testing is required include:
Portico eVision
Portico Client
Portico Reports
Interfaces to Portico
If you are a user of any of the above and participation of your department or faculty is required for testing, you should have received an email requesting confirmation that either you or other colleagues in your area are able to assist us. Staff able to support this activity will be sent further information about the process for testing and reporting any issues you may encounter.
We are aware that you may also be participating in routine business activities and/or testing for Moodle, Lecturecast or CMIS in June. We are working closely with the project teams and service owners for these systems to ensure business continuity for users and will endeavour to keep the impact of our testing to a minimum.
Service owners of Portico interfaces that are not affected by planned updates will not be required to take any action, and should have already received an email stating this.
Please contact us at amptest@ucl.ac.uk if you believe you should be involved in the testing detailed above and have not received any communications from us, or if you have any questions about either the upcoming changes or planned testing.
