Education Governance

A list of committees, sub-committees and groups involved in education governance for 2025-26.

Education Committee

Education Committee works in the context of the delegation of powers from Academic Committee and Academic Board to oversee the academic work of UCL in teaching, examining and the regulation and superintendence of the education of students.

The following sub-committees report to Education Committee (2025-26). Meeting dates may vary.

Digital Education and Student Experience Sub-Committee (DESC)

Responsible for supporting the work of Education Committee in defining, monitoring, and reviewing UCL digital education and student experience strategy and policy as aligned with UCL Education Strategy.

Student Access and Success Committee (SASC)

Responsible, on behalf of Education Committee, for ensuring access, participation and success (completion, continuation and progression and awarding gaps) throughout the student lifecycle for all taught students.

Student Partnership Committee (SPC)

Responsible, on behalf of Education Committee, for ensuring that student voice and student partnership are central to UCL's decision-making about education and student experience.

Faculty Education Committees (FEC)

These follow the published Terms of Reference and report to Education Committee annually through submitting their minutes.

 

Quality and Standards Committee (QSC)

Responsible, on behalf of Education Committee, for assuring quality, reliable standards and positive outcomes in students’ academic experiences.

UCL Portico

The following Committees and groups report directly to QSC (2025-26). To contact these committees / panels, please email apqs@ucl.ac.uk. Meeting dates may vary.

Collaborative and Accredited Provision Committee (CAPC)

Reviews and approves new and renewed collaborative agreements and incorporates accredited provision. CAPC reports to QSC and annually to Education Committee.

Degree Apprenticeships Panel (DAP)

Oversees UCL's degree apprenticeships portfolio, develops policy and helps ensure that regulatory requirements are met, including from Ofsted.

Education Policy Scrutiny Panel (EPSP)

Reports to QSC and aims, on behalf of QSC, to develop and scrutinise education policies and student academic regulations.

Internal Quality Review Panel (IQRP)

Reports to QSC and is tasked to select departments for Internal Quality Review (IQR), to oversee the review process and outputs and follow up progress on action plans.

Programme Amendment and Review Committee (PARC)

Reviews and approves programme amendments and also took on approvals under PEP2 on behalf of Education Committee.  PARC reports to QSC and to Education Committee on its delegated PEP responsibilities.

Programme and Module Approval Panel (PMAP)

Oversees the UCL programme approval process, recommending new programmes to Education Committee for approval. PMAP also reports regularly to Education Committee and to Academic Committee annually.
