Slavica Jakelic is an Assistant Professor of Humanities and Social Thought at Valparaiso University's Honors College and an Associate Fellow of the Institute for Advanced Studies in Culture at the University of Virginia. Her scholarly interests and publications centre on religion and identity, theories of religion and secularism, relationship between religious and secular humanisms, and conflict resolution. Previously to joining the Valparaiso University faculty, Dr. Jakelic worked at or had been a fellow of several interdisciplinary institutes--the Erasmus Institute for the Culture of Democracy in Croatia; the Institute for the Study of Economic Culture at Boston University; the Institut fur die Wissenschaften vom Menschen in Vienna, Austria; the Erasmus Institute at the University of Notre Dame; the Martin Marty Center at the University of Chicago; and the Notre Dame Institute for Advanced Study.
