Sign upIn the UCL Department of Political Science, we strive to create a student community that is genuinely representative of the wider world. We are keen to recruit students from a diverse array of backgrounds. To that end, we are working in partnership with the UCL Access and Widening Participation Team to help students from under-represented backgrounds navigate and prepare for the application process.
UCL's Access and Widening Participation team offers an exciting range of visits, events and programmes for students in years 5-13 and adult learners who are under-represented in higher education. They also run activities for parents and carers, and teachers and educational professionals. All of their events and activities are designed to give students a greater insight into UCL's degree programmes and student life.
Check out UCL's Academic Support and find out how Transition Mentors help you settle in and can provide advice on academic topics, support services and administrative tasks that you need to complete as a first year student. Every first year undergraduate is matched to a Transition Mentor, a second or third year student from your degree programme.
If you're considering spending your first year living in UCL Accommodation, you'll want to know more about everything from life in UCL Halls to the application process.
Each year, UCL Accommodation allocates approximately 7,500 beds across London every year.
We guarantee accommodation for students who are under 18 and first year students with additional requirements. If you are a current student with additional requirements, you can also apply for a place in halls beyond your first year. Applications will be considered by the Medical Cases Panel and reviewed on a case by case basis.
First year students are prioritised for UCL Accommodation, which means that they are offered spaces in UCL Accommodation ahead of returning students. All applicants who met the eligibility criteria were allocated a place in UCL Accommodation during academic year 2024-25.
Find out more and view the halls on the Accommodation webpages.
