Clara Collet Departmental Scholarship
4-year Scholarships for UK and EU/Overseas PhD students.
Clara Collet Scholarships (2026/27): 4 years (fees and stipend)
The department offers 4-year PhD Scholarships to prospective PhD candidates starting in 2026. The Scholarship covers full fees and a tax-free stipend of *£21,870 (*26/27 rate TBC).
The 4 years of funding are either for students arriving with a Master’s degree, or for students wishing to first pursue a Masters within the department followed by a 3-year PhD programme.
The scholarships are highly competitive and are allocated solely based on academic merit and research potential. They include a teaching requirement in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th years for a total of 180 hours per annum, including both contact and non-contact hours. In year 1, students contribute to teaching for 110 hours (training and second marking only).
- Candidates should list their interest in the Clara Collet awards on the application form.
- Any candidates interested in the 1+3 route should contact the PhD Manager first (polsci.admissions@ucl.ac.uk) to register their interest and for further information.
The deadline to apply for Clara Collet scholarships is the same as the main PhD application deadline of December 5th, 2025.
