Paper Galleries is UCL’s very own student-led art newspaper, created by Milly Howes as part of the History of Art Society. The goal is simple: to make art history feel enjoyable and accessible to everyone. It’s a space where anyone with an interest in art can get involved.
The team behind Paper Galleries includes eight writers and four editors, all elected by the society with support from the department. Together, they publish two articles a week on any topic they feel inspired by with no strict rules or set formats.
Want to Be Featured?
Paper Galleries isn’t just for the team - it’s for the whole UCL community. If you’ve ever wanted to write about something in the art world, this is your chance to share it. You don’t need to study History of Art or even be part of the society. In fact, you don’t even need to be a current UCL student. Alumni, staff, parents, and anyone with a UCL connection is welcome to submit.
Whatever you’re passionate about - an exhibition you loved, a niche artist you can’t stop thinking about, or a random art question you want to explore - you can turn it into a feature piece.
Just send your article to hoa.society@ucl.ac.uk along with a short description of who you are (name and how you’re connected to UCL, like your course, job title, or alumni status).
If you’ve been looking for a friendly place to share your ideas, this is it. The art world is your oyster!
