Nominations for the 2025 UCL Provost Education Awards and SHS Faculty Education Awards
7 February 2025
Nominations are now open for the 2025 UCL Provost Education Awards and the SHS Faculty Education Awards. Both awards celebrate UCL staff for their outstanding contributions to teaching, learning and supporting student success.

Please note that there are separate processes for these two awards, which have slightly different criteria, but please do feel free to nominate appropriate colleagues for both awards.
Departments may submit individual nominations, or team nominations, for either award. For the University award, the Faculty may submit up to eight nominations - no more than five of the total eight nominations can be team nominations and no more than five can be individual nominations. There are no restrictions on the number of individual / team nominations beyond the total limit of 8 awards, that may be awarded the Faculty Awards.
Deadlines for nominations to reach the Faculty Office, for either award, will be 24 February 2025.
Provost Education Awards
Nominations for the UCL Provost’s Education Awards must show evidence of impact on student learning and/or student experience, and demonstrate how they further some of our shared ambitions for education excellence that were developed by the UCL community.
The panel will be looking for evidence of impact against the criteria in the following categories:
- Innovating: with a particular interest in nominations that show evidence of new, rigorous ways that combine education and cutting-edge research
- Enhancing belonging: supporting diversity and creating a sense of community for students, and between students and staff.
- Improving the student experience: through improved infrastructure or processes that enhance the teaching and learning experience.
- Celebrating education: practices that celebrate teaching and learning, and staff who teach and support teaching.
- Impactful partnerships: focussing on engaging and impactful partnerships between students and staff.
SHS Faculty Education Awards
In addition to the usual UCL Provost Education Awards, we are also offering inviting nominations for our own Faculty Education Awards to celebrate colleagues who have contributed towards our Faculty education objectives of promoting assessment for learning, belonging and skills. The winners will be announced through the Faculty and will each receive a £100 book token. Please fill in a nomination if you would like to be considered for these awards, or if you wish nominate someone else. We will accept individual or team nominations. You should tell us how the work has advanced the following educational objectives and had a sustained impact on student experience and education:

- ensure that feedback is returned to students in a timely way.
Belonging
Developing, supporting or embedding curricular or extracurricular opportunities for students to:
- develop relationships with each other and/or with staff;
- work together on projects or meaningful tasks;
- co-create learning opportunities;
- make friends;
- see themselves, their lives and their concerns reflected in the university and/or curriculum, particularly for students from minoritised backgrounds.
Skills
Developing, supporting or embedding opportunities within the curriculum for students to:
- learn, develop and practise skills that enable them to do well in their studies regardless of background and prior education (including work to demystify the 'hidden curriculum');
- learn and practise skills that they find valuable and rewarding;
- understand and articulate what skills they are learning;
- relate the skills they are learning as part of their programme to their own present and/or future lives and careers.
