Innovation & Enterprise

Globally recognised for our teaching and research, UCL Social & Historical Sciences is defined by a strong culture of innovation. From climate change to economic inequality, our academics, alumni and students are exploring new ways to address pressing problems.
My role has a number of different functions but it is primarily to encourage and develop enterprise, entrepreneurship, and activities that have direct social impact.

I seek to help faculty take and develop their research ideas so that they can have direct benefit to society and the economy. I seek to help and encourage students to participate in being active in being entrepreneurial and encourage students creating ideas that can benefit society.

I also seek to help create a strong set of cases that assist UCL and the faculty develop the Knowledge Exchange Framework (KEF). I am also seeking to develop a faculty-wide strategy and resources that encourages students and staff to engage more with activities that have social and economic impact.

Professor Mark Altaweel, Vice-Dean Innovation, Enterprise and Knowledge Exchange
