October ‘25

29 October: At our ECR Showcase event hosted by UCL Anthropocene and UCL Health Mind & Society initiatives, separate funding opportunities for ECRs/PGRs was announced for events or activities to take place in the current academic year 2025/26. Initiative leads are keen to receive proposals for events linked to the specific interests and activities that cover these initiatives’ themes. Events or activities could be stand alone, or a small series. Proposals of c. 2pp. should make clear what the goal, focus and audience of the activities would be and as well as associated costs. Total budgets should not exceed £500. 

Applicants with an interest in the Anthropocene initiative should complete either the Anthropocene application form and those whose work will be associated with Health Mind & Society initiative should complete a separate Health Mind & Society form. Applications deadline: Friday 5th December

Grand Challenges, SHS and the Institute of Advanced studies co-host the ‘Colonial Legacies, Contemporary Inequities: Critical Approaches to Global Health’ symposium, organised by HMS steering group member and PhD candidate Catriona Gold. 

Anthropology of Joy Workshop: HMS steering group member Joanna Cook and Ben Theobald co-convene a workshop discussing what an anthropology of joy might contribute to the social sciences. Read Ben’s reflections on the workshop here.
