Software
Explore UCL Geography’s innovative software tools, including Sapelli, GeoKey, and Community Maps, designed to enable communities worldwide to collect, share, and visualise geographic data.
Researchers in ExCiteS at UCL Geography develop bespoke technologies to address the challenges of collecting, sharing, and visualising geographic information with diverse communities.
Sapelli is a mobile data collection and sharing platform designed for non-literate and illiterate users with minimal ICT experience. It plays a central role in ExCiteS’ mission to enable citizen science globally.
GeoKey is a web-based participatory mapping platform. It allows communities to collect, share, and discuss local knowledge, manage data structures and user rights, upload media, and use a REST API for integration with other apps.
Community Maps is an easy-to-use platform that visualises user-generated data. Users can edit GeoKey data, create new contributions, and share information across communities.
All platforms are open-source and available for anyone to use or contribute to.
They can also connect with other web and mobile applications, extending their functionality.
