The work of the ECRC is primarily concerned with ecosystem and climate change throughout the past, present and future. Their research themes are diverse but unified by a central philosophy of placing contemporary environmental processes and problems in the context of longer time-scale variability. They are also interested in the effects of natural variability and the impact of human activity on natural ecosystems - especially aquatic ecosystems.
