Culture and Migration
Uniting human geographers at UCL with expertise in social, cultural, and historical geography, particularly in migration and refugee studies.
Researchers in this cluster focus on social inequalities, particularly those related to gender and race. They take critical approaches to social and cultural geography and are committed to empirical, often historical-geographical research. They also collaborate with creative partners and diverse user groups.

UCL has a strong legacy in cultural historical geography, reflected in contemporary scholarship. This includes James Kneale’s work on literary geographies and the historical geographies of drinking and licensing.
