Get Involved
At UCL Geography, there are many ways to make your voice heard and shape the student experience. From leading events through the Geographical Society to representing your peers on key committees, our students play an active role in building an inclusive, collaborative and dynamic department community.
The Geographical Society (GeogSoc) is run by a committee of students from the Department and organises a range of academic and social events throughout the year. It’s a great way to connect with fellow students and staff beyond the classroom.
SPCs provide a forum for open discussion between staff and student representatives. They’re a key way for students to share feedback, raise ideas, and work with staff to enhance the learning experience.
The Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Committee works to ensure best practice across the department for the benefit of all staff and students—regardless of gender, race, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, age, religion or belief.
The committee grew out of the Athena SWAN Working Group, which led the Department to achieve its Bronze Award (2016) and Silver Award (2022). Students from undergraduate, postgraduate taught and postgraduate research courses are represented on the committee.
