Geographers Against Classism
As a student-run network, we hope to bring people together in a supportive environment to create a safe community in which to discuss class and social inequalities within the Department of Geography.
We aim to enact change within the Department to recognise and address assumptions of shared privilege, boosting unheard perspectives both socially and academically.

Do
Engage Respectfully
Participate in discussions about class and inequality thoughtfully, listening to diverse perspectives and contributing with care.
Support Peers
Offer encouragement and understanding to students from different backgrounds to create a strong, welcoming community.
Foster Inclusivity
Actively contribute to an environment where all voices are heard and valued, both socially and academically.
Don't
Assume Privilege
Avoid assuming that everyone shares the same social or economic background; acknowledge diverse experiences within the Department.
Dismiss Inequality
Never ignore or belittle experiences of disadvantage. Recognise and validate them instead.
Exclude Voices
Do not marginalise perspectives from underrepresented groups; make space for everyone to contribute.
