Events Support (various roles)

There are a number of different events taking place throughout the year which are held either at faculty level or within department level, with some key events outside of term time

Nature & Scope

The type of events you can work on will vary but typically they could include the Open days in June and September, December offer-holder days throughout March-May, department related events and any other ad-hoc.

The work offered will be during both term and vacation time and as events support you will be invited to be involved as and when you able to. Events Ambassadors can be either undergraduates or postgraduates; the only requirement is that you are a Student Buddy before applying.

Responsibilities include (but not limited to):

  • Supporting the faculties events officer or department with events set up and clear up
  • Helping with registrations, showing individuals to their seat, answering queries
  • Pre-event promotion work such as handing out leaflets, putting up posters and visiting venues around UCL to promote an event
  • Collaborate with the Joint faculty to come up with new and exciting events to support prospective students to settle in during enrolment week
  • Lead campus tours (or department tours) of the University
  • Share your experiences with prospective students

Contract Period

Flexible from March – October 2019

Please note: Training is mandatory for all students involved with Virtual activities before commencing work.

Remuneration

This role is compensated at a rate of (to add in) per hour plus (to add in) in lieu of vacation. You will be expected to commit to hours set out for the event.

The Social Media Ambassador is expected to submit timesheets on a weekly bases. (Please note time sheets may be rejected if the work is not completed within the time allocation).

 (Academics and) Time Commitment

We recognise that you will be undertaking this work alongside significant academic and other commitments. as such, this role is very flexible, however we recommend that you let us know how many hours you can do a week, and also times when you are not available so that we can offer work to other Student Buddies if you are not available.

Failure to not show up to an event without a valid excuse, can resulting you being removed from the Student Buddy scheme, so please do inform us if you may experience any problems that may result in you not being able to attend at least 24hrs before the event (if possible).

Qualifications and Conditions of Employment

  • Good verbal communication skills
  • Excellent punctuality
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to multitask different ad-hoc activities
  • Ethical judgement and sound decision-making skills
  • Good organisation and prioritisation skills
  • Experience of being involved in organising events or supporting them is helpful to have but not essential

Prior to the commencement of the term of the contract, each candidate must complete the following:

  • Attend mandatory training session
  • Completion and submission of all required paperwork to Unitemps
  • Apply for a Position
