Artist's statement

Esmond Loh (b. 1995, Singapore) works primarily in painting and drawing. Taking inspiration from his thoughts, observations, memories and experiences, he imagines scenes that are charged with tension, absurdity and drama. He was the winner of the 31st UOB Painting of the Year Competition and has had three solo exhibitions, in 2014, 2016 and 2018. Most recently, he received the Highly Commended Award in his category at the 37th UOB Painting of the Year and was shortlisted for the Jackson's Open Painting Prize 2019.
