Rob Kesseler works in the overlapping territories between Art, Design, Photography, Applied Art and Science. During the past fifteen years he has worked with a range of scientists – botanical, molecular, genetic, with access to their knowledge and technologies.
Using a variety of advanced microscopy techniques to produce complex images of plant specimens and cell structures he has has produced a wide range of works in diverse media, from ornamental china dinner services used for al fresco banquets, to a series of award winning publications on Pollen and Seeds. Art, Science and the Artisan will place Kesseler's recent work in the historical context of the important contribution artisans, illustrators and scientists have made to the wider arts.
