Rob Kesseler works in the overlapping territories between Art, Design, Photography, Applied Art and Science. During the past fifteen years he has  worked with a range of scientists – botanical, molecular, genetic, with access to their knowledge and technologies.

Using a variety of advanced microscopy techniques to produce complex images of plant specimens and cell structures he has has produced a wide range of works in diverse media, from ornamental china dinner services used for al fresco banquets, to a series of award winning publications on Pollen and Seeds. Art, Science and the Artisan will place Kesseler's recent work in the historical context of the important contribution artisans, illustrators and scientistshave made to the wider arts.

Rob Kesseler is currently Chair of Arts Design & Science at Central Saint Martins, for the University of the Arts London. Work from a recent project developed in collaboration with the biologist Melina Schuh from the MRC, Cambridge can be seen in the exhibition Lens on Life, in the Lethaby Gallery, Central Saint Martins. 19 January - 27 February 2015.
