Merlin James is a painter based in Glasgow. He studied at the Central School of Art and the Royal College of Art, London. Recent solo exhibitions include 'Meeting at the Building', Douglas Hyde Gallery Dublin (current); 'Long Game', CCA Glasgow (current); 'Genre Paintings', Sikkema Jenkins & Co. New York (2015); 'Freestyle', Kunstverein Freiburg (2014); 'Signal Box', Kunst-Werke Institut Berlin (2013).
Merlin James has written extensively on art in the Burlington Magazine and elsewhere, and a volume of his collected art criticism is forthcoming from Modern Art Press, London.
With artist Carol Rhodes he runs 42 Carlton Place, an occasional exhibition space in Glasgow. The present talk will focus on his curated projects.
