You Can Try But You'll Never Be My Mother, video, 5 mins.
You Can Try But You'll Never Be My Mother is a crooked story of contemporary motherhood. In the film, seven women retell a fictitious experience of parental trauma, alongside their own accounts of motherhood. Their narratives have been edited to form a multi-layered montage, a dissonant chorus. As with the oral mode of storytelling, inaccuracies happen, emotions distort, each telling absorbs its teller.
