Artist's Statement

I am endeavouring to express certain happenings that shape our memory. Some times these are personal statements that contain a high degree of intimacy and sometimes I can step back from the incidents and adopt a different stance, that of a witness or observer. In both cases I try to use the inherent history of everyday things such as we find in clothes, packages, cases etc, juxtaposed with the preciousness of an intimate object a letter, some memento, trinket or talisman.

However, since my arrival at the Slade, my work has undergone some change. I feel I have drifted, often accidentally, into other realms of possibility. The reasons for this departure I feel to be quite complex and based on a series of unpredictable happenings, some personal, some pragmatic.
These have led me to explore other avenues of investigation and different themes.
