A new study, published in the Journal of Cleaner Production, finds that China's overall footprint is higher than the EU countries, but its per capital footprint is smaller than those in EU.

Economic growth continues to drive material use in Western Europe, according to new research from SINCERE

SINCERE's Paolo Agnolucci and Florian Flachenecker published ‘The causal impact of economic growth on material use in Europe’ in the Journal of Environmental Economics and Policy. Their important study suggests that Western European economies have not yet managed to ‘decouple’ material use from economic growth, implying more ambitious efforts are needed to break the link between the two variables and make progress towards greater resource efficiency.

New paper on the Circular Economy Policies in China and Europe

SINCERE researchers have published a paper that shows there are differences in the way in which the term is understood in China and Europe: the Chinese ‘version’ of a CE places greater emphasis on industrial pollution, whereas European discourse emphasises new business opportunities, arising from resource efficiency and waste recycling.
