Overview
Training the Teachers is designed to empower healthcare professionals to become confident, effective clinical educators.
This course provides practical, evidence-based strategies for teaching in clinical and classroom settings.
This course is underpinned by current educational theory, but the focus of the course is very much on practical application and improving your skills.

Course team
Megan Vaughan
Megan, Course Lead, is a Lecturer in Education for Health Professionals at UCL Medical School and a clinician-academic with a background in optometry. She holds a PhD, and her research spans eye health, healthcare education, and equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI), with a particular interest in the experiences of first-in-family learners. Alongside her teaching, she continues to work as a research optometrist on clinical trials. She is committed to inclusive, reflective teaching and supporting healthcare educators in developing their practice.
Lois Haruna-Cooper
Lois is an Associate Professor (Teaching) at UCL Medical School and a GP. Her academic expertise spans undergraduate and postgraduate medical education, with a particular emphasis on international collaboration and curriculum development. Lois is deeply committed to equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI), having served as EDI and Widening Participation Lead at UCL Medical School and as a member of the Medical Schools Council EDI Alliance.
She holds a Master’s in Health Professions Education from UCL and is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
Emma Kelley
Dr Emma Kelley is a Clinical Lecturer (Teaching) at UCL Medical School and a Paediatric Doctor. She brings extensive experience in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education, with a particular interest in student support and assessment. Emma is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and leads the Disability, Health and Wellbeing network within the UCLMS EDI Committee.
She is passionate about helping educators develop engaging and supportive teaching practices so is delighted to be part of the TTT team.
Katherine Woolf
Kath is a Professor of Medical Education Research at UCL Medical School and Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy with a particular interest in equality, diversity and inclusion in education. I’m delighted to be returning to facilitating TTT, over 20 years on from my first course.
