SDL Trados GroupShare: an Introduction

Overview

This one-day practical course will introduce you to SDL’s translation project management software SDL Trados GroupShare.

You'll learn how to set up projects in SDL GroupShare Cloud and look at a typical workflow.

This course is run by CenTraS - Centre for Translation Studies at UCL.

Who this course is for

This professional training course is open to:

  • freelance/staff translators
  • project managers
  • postgraduate translation students
  • translation tutors

You should have a basic knowledge of SDL Trados Studio and SDL MultiTerm.

Course content

Topics covered will include:

  • Setting up organisations, users and roles in SDL GroupShare Cloud
  • Setting up a translation project with a translation memory and a term base
  • Online and offline workflow

You'll carry out a number of practical exercises during the course, working in small groups to simulate a real-world scenario.

Learning outcomes

By the end of the course you'll be able to:

  • explain what SDL GroupShare Cloud is
  • set up SDL GroupShare organisations with users and roles
  • set up SDL GroupShare translation projects with a translation memory and a term base
  • complete an online and an offline workflow

Certificates

You'll receive a certificate of attendance on completion of the course.

Daniela Ford

Daniela is a Senior Teaching Fellow in Translation at UCL. She's an English/French to German translator, localiser, trainer and university lecturer for translation technologies, with 25 years’ experience in the field. She's been working with translation technology on a daily basis since 1994. She's a Member of the Institute of Translation and Interpreting (MITI).
