Life Drawing Masterclass (Evening Course)

Overview

This series of eight practical classes will introduce you to the first principles of drawing directly from a life model

Each week will focus on different elements, such as tone, space, colour, proportion and composition. 

You'll experiment with a broad range of drawing materials, both wet and dry. 

Classes are held on Friday evenings, from 6pm to 8:30pm. You can sign up for individual classes, or the series of eight classes.

This course is run by the Slade School of Fine Art at UCL.

Course content

Each session will have a different focus:

  • Proportion
  • Form
  • Tone 'Chiaroscuro', drawing with charcoal
  • Temperature - drawing with red (sanguine) and black conté
  • Movement and rhythm, drawing with ink
  • Space
  • Composition

Who this course is for

This course is suitable for those who have some experience painting, and want to develop their skills in using colour.

Certificates

You can request an attendance certificate after completing the course. These can only be supplied during the year you take the course and can't be produced retrospectively.

Cost

The cost of each class is £48.

If you sign up for all eight classes, the cost is £375.

A 10% discount on the full eight-week course is available for UCL current students and staff. To claim this discount, you'll need to enter your UPI number (on your UCL ID card) when booking.

This fee covers tuition, provision of an easel, palette and drawing board and studio space.

The fee also covers the cost of materials supplied by the Slade. Once your booking is confirmed, you'll be sent details of which materials will be provided and which you'll need to supply yourself.
