Overview
This in-depth introductory class will guide you in translating your drawing practice into the medium of printmaking.
Who this course is for
This course is open to all levels of experience.
All participants must be over the age of 18.
Course content
The course offers an intensive introduction to the methods and materials involved in the traditional techniques of copper etching and will begin with an opportunity to examine examples of original prints by different artists.
This will be followed by a thorough introduction to the basic etching processes – hard and soft ground, aquatint and sugar lift.
You will be encouraged to explore the various processes fully in order to develop your own personal language.
There will be opportunities for one-to-one tutorials as your work develops and progresses.
Teaching and structure
The course fee covers most of the materials necessary for etching, however copper and paper are not provided and will be available to purchase during the course.
You can also take this course over two weeks if you would like time extended time to develop your work.

The standard costs for this course are as follows:
- £440 for 5 days
- £880 for 10 days
