My current research interests are in the field of political philosophy and the literature of ideas in Spanish America. I have also published widely on various aspects of the works of J. L. Borges. Future plans for publication include the monograph Utopia y realidad en el ensayo politico hispanoamericano.

I graduated in Philosophy from the Universidad de Los Andes (Bogotá, Colombia) and subsequently came to London to do a postgraduate course in early music at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Following my studies in music, I obtained the MA degree in Area Studies at the Institute of Latin American Studies. I was awarded the PhD degree from the University of London in 2001. My publications include the monograph Borges and Dante: Echoes of a Literary Friendship (Oxford and Bern: Peter Lang, 2006) and several articles on ethics and poetics. My current research interests are in the field of political philosophy and the literature of ideas in Spanish America in the 19th and 20th centuries. Future plans for publication include the monograph Utopía y realidad en el ensayo político hispanoamericano.
