UCL release all clinical academics to support NHS services during coronavirus outbreak
12 March 2020
UCL’s Senior Management Team have agreed to release all clinical academics from their UCL responsibilities if they wish to support NHS services during the current crisis.
Professor David Lomas, UCL Vice Provost (Health) said: “Many of our clinical academics may shortly be asked to support clinical services as the NHS faces increased pressure during the coronavirus outbreak. We have taken the decision to release colleagues from their UCL responsibilities to enable them to take a decision on this.
This is a personal choice for each colleague and UCL is not mandating that colleagues should undertake such clinical duties. However, if our staff do choose to take this step then we will reassign their UCL duties and address the implications for grant-funded colleagues.”
Staff wishing to suspend their UCL responsibilities to support clinical services should contact their Divisional Manager or Head of Department.
UCL’s Senior Management Team will continue to review UCL’s position as the pandemic progresses and as the demands on clinical services change over time.
